Donald Trump’s loyalty and obsession with Vladimir Putin has been the eye of the storm since Trump’s failing presidency began, as the president repeatedly defended Russia against election meddling accusations and railed against claims from the United States’ own intelligence agencies.
Now, in the midst of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, more and more damning information about Trump and his relationship with Russia is surfacing.
The latest telling piece of information comes in the form of a personal letter that Trump wrote to Putin in 2013, expressing how badly he wanted Putin to attend his 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow. The Washington Post reports:
“Donald Trump was so eager to have Vladimir Putin attend the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow that he wrote a personal letter to the Russian president inviting him to the event, according to multiple people familiar with the document…
Trump’s letter to Putin, which was described by people with knowledge of its contents, shows how interested he was in attracting the personal attention of the Russian president. The real estate magnate, who owned the Miss Universe pageant, wrote the note at a time when he was looking to expand his brand to Russia.”
This letter is proof that Trump has been obsessed with Putin long before he even started running for president. The letter also exposes Trump’s blatant misogyny, as Trump apparently stated how excited he was to see “beautiful” women there.
This letter has just come to light as investigators look into Trump’s Russia investigation. The letter was turned over to investigators, as it is “the first known attempt at direct outreach” from Trump to Putin.
And if you don’t think that letter is strange, there’s a tweet for everything as far as Trump is concerned. Here’s a tweet from 2013 where Trump is pretty much begging Putin to go to the Miss Universe Pageant and become “my new best friend.”
Not weird or creepy at all…
