    Donald Trump, Politics

A Trump lawyer arranged a $130,000 “hush” payment for an adult film star after an alleged sexual encounter in 2006. The payment was made just before the presidential election as a damage control exercise to save the Trump brand from being dragged through the mud.

Michael Cohen, Trump’s lawyer for almost ten years, made the payment to former adult film star Stephanie Clifford. The star, who goes by the screen name Stormy Daniels, was said to have been involved with Trump after a golf tournament at Lake Tahoe in 2006. It is believed that she was forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement and a payment was made.

With everything else going on around Trump, his history with women had gone on the back burner. But these new revelations will bring the issue screaming back into the public consciousness and damage the already-tattered reputation of the president even further. He has been repeatedly accused of sexual misconduct and infidelity. At least on this occasion, it seems there is no question of whether it was a consensual act.

Trump will be utterly despondent that the revelations have still surfaced after he tried desperately to bury them. His history is by far the most checkered of any president. It seems that somehow the information made it to light and it is likely that Trump will try to use legal recourse to silence any talk of the affair. Even worse for the president is that the alleged affair took place after he married First Lady Melania Trump one year earlier. If he wasn’t in trouble at home before, it is likely that he is now. It seems likely that Melania is only holding on while Trump is in the White House. Once he’s out of the White House, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether she stays with him.
