A prominent Russian historian has described how he believes US President Donald Trump has a “boyish crush” on Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also went on to describe how he felt that Trump wanted to be the “first American Czar”.
In an interview with Trump’s media nemesis CNN, Simon Sebag Montefiore, a prominent historian with an extensive knowledge of Russia, spoke of Trump’s infatuation with Putin. He went on to describe the reasoning behind Trump’s lack of aggression toward Putin, considering how openly he attacks other nations and their leaders. He feels that Trump looks up to Putin and is envious of the Russian president’s control over his nation.
Montefiore said, “Donald Trump wants to be the first American Czar.” He also said about Trump that “wants to be the American Romanov – he rules by decree, very small circle, he treats ministers like personal servants, he promotes his family to positions of power, they’re the only people he really trusts. So in this sense, he really is the first American czar.” He described Trump’s admiration of Putin, saying “He looks at Vladimir Putin and he sees a man who… has control of violence, who can order interventions into foreign countries at the click of a hand.” He went on to say, “I think that is a slightly boyish crush on the idea of the gangster boss.”
It isn’t really surprising that Trump looks up to Putin, as both men have the same aspiration of being supreme leaders in their respective countries. It is surprising in the sense that Trump has so much opposition to North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un. The two men show remarkable similarities in the way that they surround themselves with mindless sycophants. Perhaps Trump despises Kim Jong-Un because he wields the power that he can only dream of. Trump has neither the backing nor capability to hold such a grip and is probably jealous of Kim. His jealousy is so gripping that he is prepared to take America to the edge of nuclear war to win a weird type of bravery contest with a madman. If that isn’t enough to scare everyone into voting him out in 2020, then nothing is.
