Just when you think you can’t be more astonished by news coming out of Donald Trump’s White House, it gets revealed not only what he eats for dinner, but how he eats it.
Apparently, the Independent Journal Review did some sort of sting operation to reveal “Inside Trump’s Secret Dinner: A Side of the President You Don’t Ever See.” The author, Benny Johnson, apparently got tipped off to where the president would be eating and booked a table nearby. He wrote:
“I received a tip from a well informed source that Trump would be dining at the BLT Steakhouse inside his Trump hotel at approximately 6 PM that evening. I had seen the president dine in the restaurant before after a campaign event held at the property in October. I assumed he would take his regular table, a circular velvet one in the back on the second level of the steakhouse. I called and made a reservation for the balcony level. I wagered that if the president did not show up, at least we would get some nice pop-overs.”
Lucky for him, the president did show up. Inside the hotel were a number of guests that really shouldn’t shock anyone, but it’s still rather suspect; Nigel Farage, Rex Tillerson and swarms of security.
While Johnson posted several photos from his evening watching the president, one detail was very alarming — what the president ate for dinner.
Here’s the lowdown:
8:45 PM: Trump is served his entree. According to a waiter, who wished to remain anonymous:
“The President ordered a well-done steak. An aged New York strip. He ate it with catsup as he always does. The sides and appetizers on the table were shared. Three jumbo shrimp cocktails were delivered before the meal. At one point, the President looked at his watch and remarked ”They are filming ‘Saturday Night Live’ right now. Can’t wait to see what they are gonna do to me this week.“ It was hard to serve him because he is so funny and relaxed, it makes you laugh.”
Trump talks jovially with his guests for the next two hours. His iconic hand motions fill the space as dinner is served.
Hold the phone, what does that say? Trump eats his steak well-done with ketchup “as he always does.”
Who the hell eats steak with ketchup? That alone should disqualify him from leading the nation. How is this not bigger news?
Okay, fine, so Trump is breaking a bunch of rules by going to his own hotel and restaurant and is likely making a profit off everyone there. And sure, there seems to be a lot shady behavior taking place. And sure, the president clearly behaves like one guy in front of the camera and another with friends and family — but ketchup on steak?!
Hopefully everyone else is just as outraged by this.
Ketchup. On. Steak.
