Across the board, Donald Trump is viewed unfavorably by a majority of Americans. Fifty-six percent view the president unfavorably, while 41 percent view him favorably.
However, the popularity that Trump tends to lack, Melania makes up.
According to a newly released poll from Gallup, the First Lady is more popular than ever. A majority of Americans have favorable views of Melania 11 months after Donald Trump took office.
Fifty-four percent of Americans polled said they viewed the first lady favorably, up 17 points from January when only 37 percent of Americans viewed her favorably.
Melania Trump has taken some heat during the course of her first year as first lady, including for delaying her move from Manhattan to the White House and even some of her bizarre fashion choices, but the nation is clearly warming to her. More than Trump at least.
On the other hand, Melania is still behind her three recent predecessors in terms of favorability during the fall of their husbands’ first year in office. Laura Bush held a 77 percent favorable rating, while 61 percent of Americans viewed Michelle Obama favorably and 58 percent of Americans viewed Hillary Clinton favorably at the time.
The survey has an error margin of four percentage points.
In comparison, Melania’s likability is far better than the so-called president’s; the first lady’s favorably increases as her husband’s plummets to a new low.
