Donald Trump’s son Eric has come out on the attack over the Russia links that threaten to derail his father’s presidency. In an interview, Eric Trump noted that the links were a “total sham” and that a special prosecutor should be appointed to probe his father’s presidential rival in 2016, Hillary Clinton.
The interview aired on Trump’s mouthpiece Fox News on Sunday. In the interview, it was noted that Eric’s brother Donald Trump Jr. was now a target in the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Eric Trump insisted that so far he had not been interviewed by Mueller.
Eric Trump noted that “The Russia thing is a total sham!” exclaiming that it was “[T]otal nonsense. There is zero collusion with Russia.” He then reverted to the Trump party line of attacking his father’s 2016 presidential election opponent Hillary Clinton. He said on the subject “To me, it’s such a travesty that that’s not being investigated [Uranium One] because there is something there and it smells and it looks horrible.”
The attacks on Hillary Clinton’s character and past dealings were a significant feature of the 2016 presidential election. Trump managed to gain plenty of traction with his “Crooked Hillary” accusations. It was a message that helped to cast doubt on the credibility of Clinton and propelled Trump to his most unlikely of victories. Since the presidential election, Trump has been under immense pressure over his alleged links to Russia and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
It is believed that the leaks on Assange’s website Wikileaks helped to damage the credibility of Clinton and hand Trump the presidency. So far, Trump has not addressed his relationship with Assange and the leaks that are thought to have come from a state-sponsored attack on DNC servers. It is now up to Special Counsel Mueller to get to the bottom of it and to prove once and for all Trump’s innocence or guilt.
