Last night, Donald Trump had a disgraceful Twitter meltdown that will mark his most unpresidential tweet yet. While on his Asia trip, Trump proved to everyone that not even distance could make him shut up as he decided to insult North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. Apparently, Kim Jong-un had called Trump “old and crazy” – and Trump reacted like the child he is by insulting the North Korean leader when he tweeted that he’d “NEVER call him short and fat.” This also came with a tweet addressing the “haters and losers” who were criticizing him for supporting Russia over America.
But what Trump’s White House Chief Of Staff John Kelly said in reaction to Trump’s meltdown will likely just lead to more. After Trump sent off those ridiculous tweets, Kelly had to answer to reporters. Kelly stated that he has told people in the White House not to pay attention to Trump’s tweets – which will upset Trump enough. Then, he said something that will make Trump truly angry – he said he doesn’t even follow Trump on Twitter!
The Los Angeles Times reported Kelly’s comments:
“Someone, I read the other day, said we all just react to the tweets,” said Chief of Staff John F. Kelly, speaking with a group of reporters after a presidential news conference Sunday in Vietnam. “We don’t. I don’t. I don’t allow the staff to. We know what we’re doing.”
Kelly said, “Believe it or not, I do not follow the tweets.”
“I find out about them,” he continued. “But for our purposes, my purpose, is we make sure the president is briefed up on what he’s about to do.”
Kelly also stated that Trump’s tweets “are what they are” but that the White House just works around them and develops “policy in the normal traditional way.”
There you have it. Kelly has not only admitted something that is sure to set Trump off, but he has told America that everyone is pretty much ignoring Trump. Trump believes that his tweeting makes him more accessible and powerful, but in reality it has just made his team work around him. Trump’s Twitter account (thanks to his childish behavior and vile personality) has made him the least powerful POTUS we’ve ever seen. Not even his own team is listening to him.
