Everyone knows that Donald Trump’s response to the disaster in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria has been shameful and inhumane. Trump has practically turned his back on the people of Puerto Rico, despite the cries and pleas from its governors to do more. Despite the fact that people are dying and much of the island is still without power and sufficient resources, Trump continues to abandon American citizens and occupy himself with Twitter instead of actually doing his job.
That’s why so many eyebrows were raised when Trump recently bragged about his administration’s response to the damage in Puerto Rico. In an appearance on CNN, Trump actually stated that he deserved a “ten” and an “A+” grade for all he had done after Hurricane Maria – a statement that truly proves how sociopathic, heartless and disconnected from reality he is.
San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, who had been one of the most outspoken officials when it came to begging Trump for help on behalf of her people, dug into Trump for his ridiculous, undeserved congratulatory statement. Reacting to the grade he gave himself, Cruz said:
“If it is a ‘ten’ out of a scale of 100, of course. It is still a failing grade.”
Cruz then decided to give Trump a brutal reality check and rattled off several of the life-threatening challenges the people of Puerto Rico are still facing, as he threatens to pull resources. She said:
“I think the president lives in an alternative reality world where only he believes the things that he’s saying. People are still without electricity. We knew it was going to take a long time for that to happen, but the basic services are not there yet, and there doesn’t seem to be any sight of how it’s supposed to go.”
It’s about time someone trashed Trump like this. You can watch the brutal video below:
