Earlier today, Donald Trump once again showed the American people that he is not up for the task of being President of the United States. In fact, he literally ran away from his responsibilities when faced with serious questions regarding the future of the country.
As Trump was leaving the healthcare executive order signing this afternoon, the undeserving POTUS was asked by a well-meaning reporter who referred to Trump’s morning tweets about cutting off aid from struggling Puerto Rico. The reporter asked, “Mr. President, what did you mean by your Puerto Rico comments this morning?” Another reporter asked, “Mr. President, are you committed to Puerto Rico for the long-term?”
Trump knows exactly what he meant for Puerto Rico, and his actions have spoken louder than his words. Despite the fact that people are dying and starving in Puerto Rico after the devastation of Hurricane Maria, Trump has turned his back on the people living there and has refused to send adequate resources and help. In fact, he has pretty much ignored the situation – and his response to this reporter’s question is a sure sign that he has every intention of continuing to pretend like nothing is wrong.
Trump responded by literally fleeing the scene and pretend that he didn’t even hear the question, even though it was asked loud and clear. As cameras rolled, Trump tried to rush across the room, toward to door, hastily hugging and saying goodbye to people as he went. There was no mistaking his body language – Trump wanted to get out of that room, fast.
Trump has refused to answer some of the most simple questions during his presidency – and this is a perfect example. Trump wants to talk a lot of trash on Twitter, but runs out of the room once someone confronts him and asks him to back it up in person. A real president and leader would talk to their US citizens, not flee them.
