On Wednesday, Donald Trump once again took to Twitter, this time attacking NBC News. Trump called NBC’s most recent report “fake news” and labeled the broadcaster “bad for (sic) country!”

The NBC story that had Trump so worked up had to do with an update to an older story regarding Sec. of State Rex Tillerson and his “alleged” unflattering assessment of Trump’s intellect.

Trump reacted to the possibility that Tillerson called him a moron by challenging his Secretary of State to an IQ test showdown. Via BBC:

“I think it’s fake news,” Mr Trump told Forbes, “but if he did that, I guess we’ll have to compare IQ tests. And I can tell you who is going to win.”

According to reports, Tillerson called his boss a “fucking moron,” after learning that Trump wanted to increase the U.S. nuclear arsenal “tenfold.”

NBC’s reporting prompted the usual petulant early morning Trump Twitter rant.

As for NBC News, they had this response:

Of course, Trump sycophants like White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders are going to try and minimize Trump’s rhetoric with their trusty “he was joking” excuse. And it’s easy for most of us to treat his comments that way, considering Trump himself is a big joke.

However, the American people need to understand that when a sitting U.S. president jokes about imposing fascism on a regular basis, it’s probably time to start taking him seriously.

Donald Trump is a narcissistic egomaniac who also happens to be the most powerful person in the world. Don’t put anything beneath him or beyond his capabilities. After all, underestimating Trump is what got us into this mess in the first place.

I don't believe in American exceptionalism, but I do believe America can only be an exceptional place as long as we can be brutally honest about its strengths and weaknesses.
