Trump’s cabinet of racist billionaires will be unveiling their budget proposal within the next couple days. The White House’s comments lay the groundwork for a more violent slashing than previously imagined. As yesterday’s egregious executive order– “Comprehensive plan for reorganizing the executive branch”- made clear, Trump isn’t messing around. He wants lots of power, really quickly: and the best way to do that, is by draining any agency which could check or balance him. As CNN reports:
“The White House has made clear it intends to use the [budget] to usher in the radical political changes that powered Trump’s upstart, anti-establishment campaign last year…Slicing up government power is part of a deeper antipathy towards institutions and the political establishment that runs deep in the Trump White House.”
Trump’s minions no longer feel the need to hide their lust for complete civil unrest, for as Steve Bannon recently told CPAC:
“If you look at these Cabinet appointees, they were selected for a reason and that is the deconstruction…[This will all be] deconstructed and I think that that’s why this regulatory thing is so important.”
After proposing a health care plan wherein millions will lose coverage, Trump has bolstered defense spending by an unprecedented amount of money. It seems, however, that the safety of Americans troubles Trump very little; an implication bolstered by the soon to be slashed budgets of the Department of Education, the state department, and the EPA. Though the purported objective is a decrease in spending, this hardly pares with Trump’s gleeful and irrational financial outpour towards the military. If the purported objective there is safety, it certainly doesn’t pare with the terrifying cuts to programs like US Aid: a state department program whose diplomatic efforts protect Americans from harm globally and domestically. Even Republican Senator, Marco Rubio was here livid; saying:
“Foreign Aid is not charity. We must make sure it is well spent, but it is less than 1% of budget & critical to our national security.”
Trump’s budget, like everything else he’s tasked with, doesn’t seem to take security into consideration at all. From the man who rarely succeeds at anything, maybe this shouldn’t surprise us.
